We have an enticing residential Laboratory Technician position awaiting you at the world class KCGM Operation that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed technical team on the convenience of an 7/7 (12-hour days and nights) roster. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor the Laboratory Technician is responsible for:
  • Sample Prep – Area Wet Lab – AAS / Eltra
    • Ensure pre-start checks are done on the AAS, Eltra Sulphur Analyzer, Dust Extractor, Sieve Shaker, Bottle Roller, Furnace, Drying Ovens, Safety Showers and Scale calibrations are completed. Ensure required PM checks are done.
    • Operate the AAS, Eltra Sulphur Analyzer, Dust Extractor, Sieve Shaker, Bottle Roller, Furnace, Drying Ovens and their associated equipment in accordance with the established procedures. Ensure equipment and processes are undertaken in accordance with established procedures and report any issues or problems arising impacting assaying.
  • Reagents
    • Ensure all standards are made and the procedures are undertaken in accordance with established procedures and report any issues or problems arising impacting Assaying and AAS/Eltra Sulphur Analyzer Operation. Review Standard Operating Procedures yearly.
    • Ensure all reagent storage is per Australian Standard or Dangerous Goods and the facility is checked and all is stored in accordance with established procedures. Reporting all environmental incidents to supervisor after implementing corrective action.
  • Reports
    • Ensure Assay reports are checked and distributed in a timely manner and in accordance with standard workplace practices and procedures.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the mining industry. Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Micromine. Effective communication skills. Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all laboratory technician and environmental tasks. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Sound understanding of metallurgical principals and their application in practice. Sound knowledge of operation of processing equipment. Solid awareness of maintenance practices in a processing environment. Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.

Qualifications: Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence. St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable). Basic Secondary Education (Year 10) and Forklift Operation (desirable).
