About the role:
We have an enticing residential Laboratory Supervisor position awaiting you at the world class KCGM Operation that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed technical team on the convenience of an 7/7 (12-hour days) roster.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Proactively encourage reporting of all incidents and accidents, review and monitor all incident and accident reports of relevant area ensuring investigations and follow up actions are correctly implemented and completed to ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
- Coordinate and monitor the workplace rehabilitation of any injured employee within their department/under their control. Supervise and provide leadership to a small team of the Metallurgical and Laboratory Technicians to support the development of a positive team culture reflecting the Northern Star Core Values and ensure ongoing professional development.
- Ensure all sample collection, preparation, testing and the reporting of results is completed accurately and in a timely manner to meet daily, weekly and monthly requirements. Ensure that all laboratory equipment is maintained to enable the provision of accurate data.
- Manage the provision of assay services from external laboratories, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of results. Maintain all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures to ensure knowledge retention and the availability of effective training tools.
- Provide assistance to the Metallurgical team though assigning and monitoring laboratory participation in metallurgical projects. Ensure suitable manning and coverage exists,
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Experience:
- Supervisory experience in a laboratory environment.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a processing in a Quality Control (QC) laboratory, preferably in Mineral Processing.
- High level of computer literacy, including intermediate Excel skills.
- Good communication skills at all levels of the business.
- Ability to coach, mentor and provide a solid foundation of positive leadership to the laboratory and metallurgical personnel.
- Self-motivated approach, with good time management skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- High level of accuracy and analytical skills.
- Ability to think strategically and commercially, approach solutions creatively and consider organisation-wide impacts
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary qualifications in Chemistry/Metallurgy or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
- A tertiary qualifications in Chemistry/Metallurgy or a relevant discipline (not essential).
- Formal qualifications and / or training in Supervision and Management.
- Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
