We have an enticing Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Training (HSSET) Manager position awaiting you at our world class Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mine. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed Senior Leadership Team as the operation ramps up production in the open pit, underground operations and commissioning a new processing facility. This is a residential position working a 5/2, 4/3 (10-hour) days roster. FIFO can be considered for the right candidate.
Reporting to the General Manager, the primary role is ensuring safe work practices and processes are available across the mine sites, to drive the desired behaviours for all personnel including contractors through safety leadership, the implementation and management of health, safety, environmental compliance and the delivery of injury and loss prevention strategies.

- Display a clear commitment to health and safety and seek to eliminate or control the risks of injury, damage and/or business loss.
- Actively engage, promote and lead Company and site continuous improvement programs and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements with specific focus on the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Regulations 2022.
- Continuous development of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Provide site support, guidance and direction on the Company Contractor Management Framework and building contractor relationships.
- Champion the awareness and use of the Company Management of Change Guideline.
- Actively participate in major project planning and operational readiness to ensure health and safety are reflected in the site Balanced Business Plan.
- Operate in accordance with the Company’s Environment Policy and procedures and display a clear commitment to responsible environmental management in compliance with approvals, licences, and other regulatory requirements:
- Manage workplace activities in a manner that minimises damage to the environment.
- Minimises waste generation through reduced consumption and increased re-use and recycling.
- Manage and promote the site training management system in alignment with Company training management processes.
- Manage site security requirements as directed by the General Manager.
- Ensure appropriate emergency preparedness and response capability is appropriate, available and suitable for the complexity of the mine site.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Qualifications Required
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in health, safety, risk or related discipline.
- Lead Auditor Qualifications (desirable).
- Recognised qualifications in risk management processes and risk analysis, for example, ICAM or bowtie.
- Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
Desired Experience and Competencies
- Significant experience in HSSET disciplines in the resources industry, including open pit, underground and processing operations.
- Knowledge in the development and implementation of comprehensive safety management systems including:
- Comprehensive understanding and execution of risk management tools, for example, critical risk and principal mining hazard management, leading risk mitigation and reporting processes and management of change.
- Demonstrated experience in health, hygiene, medical, emergency and security response coordination.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and develop investigative teams and apply root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence of unwanted events.
- Demonstrated experience in discipline related systems auditing.
- Experience in strategic planning and developing tactical plans to implement and measure and drive improvement opportunities.
- Experience in managing departmental costs and budgeting. Identify specific areas for cost improvement and ensure the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains.
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
- High level understanding of all relevant legislation and associated standards affecting the Health and safety of persons in the mining industry in WA.
- Construction experience and knowledge and experience in the commission of new plant and facilities (desirable).
- Experience or ability to hold regulatory appointed roles such as Site Senior Executive coverage as requested by the General Manager.
