We're seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our high-performing Underground Technical Services team at KCGM Operations' Mount Charlotte Underground Mine. This residential Kalgoorlie-based role operates on an 8/6 roster with 12-hour shifts.
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all Geotechnical requirements within the Geotechnical Engineering team.
Here's what awaits you:
- Provide geotechnical support and assistance to the operation, ensuring that the operation complies with all the relevant company and statutory requirements.
- Carry out geotechnical evaluations, risk assessments and make geotechnical recommendations.
- Provide geotechnical advice for underground mining areas, ensuring safe and effective ground support systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design mine levels and stope extraction plans, including rock stress modelling and stability analysis.
- Conduct QA/QC for underground scaling, rehabilitation plans, and rock bolt testing.
- Provide support with seismic data processing, analysis & reporting.
- Maintain daily reporting and compliance tracking for geotechnical activities.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly geotechnical reports
- Support the development of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
- Look for, assess & implement Business Improvement opportunities
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
Experience: Experience with mine design software - Deswik. Underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine. Good communication skills. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
Qualifications: Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's Licence (Manual). St John's Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
