We’re seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our high-performing Underground Technical Services team at KCGM Operations' new Fimiston Underground Mine. This residential Kalgoorlie-based role operates on an 8/6 roster with 12-hour shifts.

Reporting to the Underground Manager, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all Geotechnical requirements within the Geotechnical Engineering team.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Help build a new team of Geotechnical Engineers.
- Develop and implement strategic work plans and processes for the Geotechnical Department.
- Initiate and deliver geotechnical improvement projects to enhance mine productivity and profitability.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice for underground mining areas, ensuring safe and effective ground support systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design mine levels and stope extraction plans, including rock stress modelling and stability analysis.
- Oversee QA/QC for underground scaling, rehabilitation plans, and rock bolt testing.
- Maintain daily reporting and compliance tracking for geotechnical activities.
- Review and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
- Support the development of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's Licence (Manual).
- Experience with mine design software - Deswik.
- Underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- St John's Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
- Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
