Northern Star Resources has an exciting leadership opportunity at our world-class Thunderbox mine site, which is located in the highly prospective Yandal Belt and the Agnew-Wiluna Belt in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Thunderbox processing circuit is a conventional CIL plant with a hard rock processing capacity of approximately 3.0M tonnes per year. The process consists of a double toggle jaw crusher followed by a SAG and Ball milling circuit incorporating gravity recovery and CIP process achieving 94% recoveries.

We are seeking an experienced Processing Supervisor who is focused and driven, with a preference to work FIFO ex Perth on 8 days on 6 days off rotation. The Processing Supervisor reports to the Processing Superintendent or delegate, and the primary role is to lead the Processing Team in a safe and productive work environment by ensuring all work practices and procedures meet Statutory, Company OHS and Company Operational Standards within the Processing Department.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure employees have clearly defined accountabilities, roles and individual development plans.
  • Provide feedback on performance and conduct formal performance reviews in conjunction with the Processing Superintendent.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for tasks performed by the team.
  • Work with the Processing Manager to facilitate ongoing skill assessment and development.
  • Allocate tasks and targets to team members to achieve plant operation and monitoring.
  • Prioritise resource and coordinate all unplanned work that arises over the course of the week.
  • Monitor progress of assigned tasks and address any issues by regular inspections of the process plant.
  • Ensure that log sheets and checklists are completed maintained by all operators showing all process checks and readings
  • Ensure all samples are taken as scheduled and all production data is recorded according to operating procedures.
  • Raise Pronto orders for parts, equipment, maintenance and consumables.
  • Complete accurate and timely shift reports and arrange shift coverage and rosters.
  • Communicate the business objectives with team members to support their engagement and to focus all activity on agreed outcomes.
  • Conduct lockout and isolation requirements when needed and to maintain compliance with Company's Hazardous Energy Isolation Policy.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Pronto (preferred).
  • Strong leadership & good communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all environmental tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
