Through meticulous planning and development within our organisation, Northern Star Resources are now seeking two visionary and ambitious Open Pit Managers. These opportunities comes as a direct result of the successful implementation of our rigorous growth strategy. As we continue to prioritise internal talent development, these roles underscores our commitment to fostering growth and leadership for the foreseeable future.

 

These opportunities will be available across our vibrant WA production hubs – Kalgoorlie and Yandal. Whether you are seeking residential roster with objective to be home every night or FIFO, we can accommodate.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day open pit mining operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution of activities.
  • Provide input and approval of, Mining Department Open Pit strategic plans, Life Of Mine (LOM) contributions and operating / capital / manpower budgets and costs to ensure alignment with site strategic, and operational, plans and targets. 
  • Improve relevant systems and processes to ensure production priorities are shared and achieved through effective coordination of Open Pit Mining Team activities and those of other site functions. 
  • Development and review of resource allocations and budgets (people and equipment) to ensure they reflect the business drivers and intent.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a diverse team of mining professionals, fostering a culture of safety first, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop collaborative, performance driven, value-adding relationships with key Business Partners. 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Experience:

  • Experience with contract mining environments and a variety of commodities, styles of mineralisation and scales and application of mining.
  • Applicable previous management and statutory position holding experience.
  • Proven track record of effectively leading and inspiring large teams, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and exert influence.
  • Strong working knowledge in budgeting, capital allocation and cost management.
  • Proficiency in public speaking, demonstrating strong presentation skills.  

Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
  • Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers License.
