The Opportunity?

 

Northern Star currently has a newly created opportunity for an experienced senior Maintenance professional to join our Technical Services Department in the role of Maintenance Lead – Mechanical. Reporting to the Group Manager - Assets, this key position will provide expert technical advice, information & solutions to improve & optimise maintenance planning across projects to minimise plant downtime, as well as extend equipment life across all NSR processing facilities.

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee and execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Utilise predictive maintenance techniques to anticipate and prevent equipment failures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of mechanical equipment and maintenance work areas, addressing any hazards or non-compliances.
  • Oversee inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Train and mentor maintenance team members, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Analyse maintenance data to identify trends, optimize performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure maintenance activities are aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess maintenance operations and ensure adherence to best practices and schedules.
  • Prepare detailed reports on maintenance performance, equipment reliability, and compliance, providing actionable insights for management.

 

About you?

 

With extensive (5+ years) experience in senior maintenance roles, your career has been resources focused with considerable time spent on site.  Your broad experience has given you a thorough understanding of best-practice principles, and you possess a genuine passion for driving change and delivering quality outcomes across your remit.

 

The following will also see you set for success in this role:

 

  • Extensive experience in a similar senior maintenance role, within the mining industry.
  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Reliability Engineering is preferred, however we would also consider a strong candidate from a mechanical trade background, who has relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience or exposure to the gold mining industry, would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication & people skills, with the ability to engage, influence & build strong, functional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively, drive & manage change and motivate your team to achieve consistent success.
  • Innovative in thought, with an agile mindset, you possess strong analytical & problem-solving skills, and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Well organised with a keen attention to detail, you naturally look to mitigate & control potential risk.
  • Flexible & adaptable to changing priorities, you multitask effectively, and are comfortable driving quality outcomes in a dynamic, target driven environment.
  • Possess a high level of computer literacy across the MS Office Suite, with experience using Pronto highly regarded.
