About our role

Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Training Advisor – Open Pit to support and assist the Mining Team in the development, review, and delivery of internal Open Pit training programs.

 

Additionally, this role is ensuring all Northern Star employees training is delivered in line with Northern Star’s Induction, Training & Assessing and Competency Training Performance Standards at our world-class Bronzewing operations.

 

This is a permanent full-time role offered on 8 days on 6 days off roster flying in and out of Perth.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Liaising with the HSEC Manager and relevant personnel to schedule Open Pit training and assessing activities
  • Delivering company and site inductions when required
  • Assisting in reviewing the accuracy of programs as well as implementing and promoting Open Pit operating procedures, standards and training for Northern Star operations to meet industry standards
  • Participating in and supporting annual reviews and feedback for continuous improvement of Northern Star’s training systems and programs
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Open Pit operating procedures, standards and training manuals for mining equipment and operations
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of consistent competency-based training and assessment for the Open Pit teams, including re-assessment and evaluation
  • Assisting to develop training needs analyses and competency assessment tools as required
  • Aiding, coaching, mentoring and support to Open Pit Field Trainer/Assessors
  • Completing all relevant training and assessment documentation accurately, correctly in a timely manner and ensuring all training is recorded and maintained within INX InTuition
  • Liaising with external training providers as required
  • Ensuring job-specific safety skills and responsibilities are met
  • Maintaining current industry knowledge and skills for Training and Assessing qualifications and hold current vocational competencies for task being trained and assessed against

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Current vocational competencies for task being trained and assessed against
  • Previous experience working in a similar role, working in an open-pit mining environment
  • Open-pit mining equipment operation experience, preferable Excavator/Dozer
  • Demonstrated Leadership Coaching & Mentoring abilities
  • Exposure to site-based safety systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities successfully
  • InTuition or similar database management system experience
  • Sound knowledge of Mines Regulations, WHS & Duty of Care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment – TAE40116 or higher
  • Provide First Aid Certificate
  • C Class Driver’s License
