About our role:

Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the team at our world class Jundee operations. This position is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off rotation, FIFO ex Perth and BIBO for Kalgoorlie residents.

The Light Vehicle Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, with a primary role of maintaining light vehicles and associated ancillary equipment to minimise downtime and to ensure targeted machine reliability is achieved between planned maintenance tasks within the operations.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Work within the Mobile Maintenance Team to ensure all activities (breakdowns, follow-up work, PMs, planned work etc) are performed in a safe, timely, professional and effective manner.
  • Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members.
  • Provide key involvement in addressing safety issues and undertaking safety investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Organise all permits as required (e.g. isolations, confined space, hot work and dig permits).
  • Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Highlight equipment defects and issues effectively utilising the maintenance management process.
  • Rigorous cost management - avoid rework and the unnecessary use of parts and services.
  • Provide input into the annual performance reviews for the Mechanical Apprentices where applicable.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum 2 years practical experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic, preferably in a mining environment.
  • Excellent fault finding skills and ability to carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Ability to pass a National Police Clearance
