Position: Projects Superintendent

 

Work Location: Thunderbox Operations - located in the highly prospective Yandal Belt and the Agnew-Wiluna Belt in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

 

Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off - FIFO ex Perth or ex Busselton

 

Northern Star Resources has an exciting leadership opportunity at Thunderbox Operations searching for a driven Projects Superintendent.

 

The Projects Superintendent reports to the Processing Manager and the primary role is to provide project management leadership and technical direction regarding key projects across the site and processing functions of the business, ensuring sound engineering practices are applied and project deliverables are developed and executed in accordance with business objectives within the Processing Department.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide project leadership on key projects through all project phases including feasibility, design, planning, permitting, procurement, execution, commissioning, and optimisation.
  • Assist sites with identification of project resourcing requirements, budgeting, and scheduling for the purpose of capital allocations within annual budgets.
  • Review capital expenditure requests for technical and commercial corporate approval.
  • Assist sites with regulatory compliance related activities including the licensing and permitting of capital developments.
  • Perform routine compliance auditing of sites against internal and external engineering standards.
  • Challenge existing operational paradigms with a focus towards future innovation and technological advancements.
  • Follow good cost control for all projects under your direction.
  • Ensure a close working relationship with the maintenance and operational teams to ensure projects are handed over in an operational ready state.
  • Manage and develop the expertise of projects team by reviewing work plans, providing advice and counsel, and participating in the team’s recruitment, evaluation, and training.
  • Develop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.

Required skills and experience: 

  • Prefer Degree majoring in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Process, Metallurgy or related field.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • Ten years relevant experience in mineral process plant related role.
  • Three to five years in supervisory or management role.
  • Expert level knowledge of departmental management practices.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance related activities including the licensing and permitting of capital developments.
  • Experience in developing capital budgets for projects.
  • Experience in plant refurbishment.
  • Experience in plant operation and/or maintenance.
  • Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
