Northern Star Resources are seeking motivated and trade passionate individuals to join our Site Services Teams as an Apprentice in January 2026. Opportunities available fly-in-fly-out from Perth.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, your primary focus as an Apprentice Plumber, will be to listen and learn from your experienced maintenance team, and to help ensure all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner, and in compliance with all statutory and Northern Star standard requirements.

You will be required to actively contribute towards achieving the Company’s vision by demonstrating a clear commitment to the STARR core values.

 

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems across mining infrastructure, including potable water, process water, and wastewater systems.
  • Learn to interpret site-specific plumbing schematics, piping diagrams, and technical plans.
  • Support the inspection and servicing of pipes, pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems used in mine site operations.
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting plumbing faults under the supervision of qualified tradespeople.
  • Adhere strictly to mine site safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participation in pre-start meetings.
  • Work under the guidance of experienced plumbers to gain technical knowledge and practical skills relevant to a mining environment.
  • Participate in structured training and complete all required modules for apprenticeship progression and certification.
  • Assist in the fabrication, cutting, threading, and installation of piping using hand and power tools.
  • Help with the installation and maintenance of amenities such as ablution blocks, crib rooms, and site accommodation plumbing.
  • Conduct basic testing of plumbing systems to check for leaks, flow rates, and system performance.
  • Follow environmental and water management guidelines when handling materials and waste in remote mine settings.

 

Qualifications Required

  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Pre-apprenticeship or similar (desirable). 
  • Current “C” Class Manual Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum completion of year 12 or equivalent.
  • Ability to commit to 4 years apprenticeship

  • Have a genuine passion and interest in the apprenticeship you are applying for. 
  • Willing to work in different shifts and varying rosters. 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work within a team. 
  • Self-motivated and consistently aim to deliver quality outcomes, with a strong focus on safety. 
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office etc.
  • Good communication skills.
